Queen Celebrates 87th Birthday Privately on Sunday

The Queen of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II will celebrate her 87th birthday on Sunday in a family atmosphere, according to a statement released by the Buckingham Palace on Saturday.

A modest ceremony with closest relatives will take place in Windsor Castle, said to be their favorite home of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.

In the UK, the anniversary of the Queen is celebrated twice a year. The monarch's milestone for April 21, will be marked with gun salutes fired in celebration and for the official one will be celebrated in June, which is marked with the Trooping the Colour parade. The exact date is announced by the Queen herself.
